My name is Ismail Guneydas, I am working for Slicehost /Rackspace as a Linux System Administrator. Recently I became CCNA, and IT Security Columnist for a popular Turkish magazine.
My daily job is mostly about trouble shooting customer issues and writing security article for the article site. I am a graduate with a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (SIUC). I have double Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and in Mathematics from Istanbul Technical University. I also studied one year as exchange student in University of Miami. I have taught several IT courses about software and hardware for two years at SIUC as a teaching assistant.
I was always interested in information security . My senior year project was about Electronic Warfare. I had a chance to being able in a project team for an Electronic Counter Measurement Project during my internship at Aselsan, leading multi-product electronics company of Turkey .
Computer Security and Linux Systems Administration classes which I took during my master study was a turning point in my career. After those classes, I know that I will be a Linux systems admin and improve my knowledge in information security. During the summer of 2008, I worked as a IT Security Intern at a insurance company; RLI. You can check my linkedin page for more information.
I created this blog because I think I can help non-tech people by teaching(showing) them how to make their computers safe, and may help techs by giving ideas for how to make their servers safer.
